Tetrapods

Tetrapods are shaped concrete blocks, designed to protect the coastline from erosion. Pouring hydraulic concrete into special steel moulds produces tetrapods. Tetrapod production is complied with all-Union State Standard 20425-75.

Tetrapods are sure structures that have proven their effectiveness in coastline protection in different countries. The special shape gives stableness to the structure and also enables strong coupling among items, which provides a guaranteed protection against the waves. For example, in Japan, where forces of nature show themselves often, the coastline is equipped with “four-legged” that protect it from erosion. Moreover, tetrapods have been widely used to provide protection for port areas and ships.

The first tetrapod was invented in France in 1950 ("Dauphinois d’Hydraulique" laboratory in Grenoble).

“M-Konstruktor” tetrapod steel moulds

Assembled tetrapod steel moulds structurally represent four flattened cones joined by bases. “M-Konstruktor” tetrapod molds are dismountable. They consist of one lower part – the base and three shape-forming pieces. The concrete mixture is poured through the upper neck of the construction. The molds are made of metal sheets with reinforcement along the outline.

“M-Konstruktor” produces molds for tetrapod production of any size, permitted by all-Union State Standard: T -1,5; T-3; T-5; T-7.8; T-10; T-13; T-20; T-25 (a number means the weight of the final product in tons).

Tetrapod production with “M-Konstruktor” steel moulds requires adherence to simple process operations: mold coating, mounting, hydraulic concrete pouring, concrete mixture consolidation by tremblers, alternating curing of the product, tetrapod dismantling, mold cleaning up.

Tetrapod steel moulds are a complex technical construction and their production requires high-qualified specialists on every stage of production.
